Description: U.S. trade with sub-Saharan Africa, like investment, is a small share of U.S. world totals. Several government programs promote U.S. trade and investment through loan guarantees, preferential tariffs for foreign products, credit insurance, and other means, and although these programs assist commercial transactions with sub-Saharan Africa, they are not exclusive to the region. Iraq: Oil-for-Food Program, Illicit Trade, and Investigations

Description: The “oil-for-food” program (OFFP) was the centerpiece of a long-standing U.N. Security Council effort to alleviate human suffering in Iraq while maintaining key elements of the 1991 Gulf war-related sanctions regime.
