ACADEMICS
the Department of Journalism. Beating out college
newspapers in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and
Louisiana, the "North Texas Daily" was named
best overall paper by the Society of Professional
Journalists. Several Daily staff members also won
personal awards for their work from the Texas
Intercollegiate Press Association.
TIPA also held competition for broadcast journal-
ism and the Department of Radio, Television and
Film can be proud. Kara Brock, Jennifer Brumagen
and James Cave won first place for overall radio
broadcasting, and Matthew Muhl won first place
for television production.
The Moot Court Squad competed in three Texas
Undergraduate Moot Court Association tourna-
ments this year. The competitions are designed to

Based on her research in parent/child relation-
ships, Dr. Patricia Kaminski, an assistant professor
in the psychology department, has been invited to
be a presenter at the Oxford Roundtable Forum.
The invite-only event will feature 35 to 40 presenta-
tions total. The forum takes place in July at Oxford
University in Oxford, England.
The commitment of the students and faculty helps
to make NT a nationally recognized university with
highly rated programs. These awards, grants and
achievements are only a few highlights from a busy
year. The College of Arts and Sciences continues
to set a standard for the growth and expansion of
