The Housing and Home Furnishings
Merchandising program was as well or-
ganized as the Fashion Merchandising
program, offering students the opportu-
nity to prepare to become home furnish-
ings buyers, home furnishings merchan-
disers, manufacturer's representatives,
showroom managers, production spe-
cialists, residential interior designers,
home furnishings journalists, consumer
representatives, kitchen and bath plan-
ners and real estate agents, among other
occupations.
In 1990, the school planned to move
offices and classrooms into the newly
renovated Chilton Hall. The new facili-
ties were to include a computer lab as
well as labs for the Merchandising and
Hotel and Restaurant Management pro-
grams. The College Inn food service fa-
cility served as a restaurant management
teaching lab. The students used state-
of-the-art equipment to prepare and
serve two luncheons weekly. The Shera-
ton Hotel and Conference Center at NT
provided another teaching lab facility
and was also used as an internship site.
NT's School of Human Resource
Management provided a setting where
studies in human relations, technology,
design and business were combined to
best prepare students for professional
careers.
