The ladies also went to Fred Moore Child
Care Center twice a week. During this time
they read to the children and entertained
them. At Christmas time the Zeta Phi Betas
went caroling to The Vintage and visited
with the residents.
Lisa Edwards, Zeta Phi Beta president,
said, "We had a successful year because all
the girls worked really hard and were dedi-
cated to achieving their goals."
Although spring 1990 did not bring any
new greeks to campus, the Sigma Chi Deltas
were hopeful. Even though they were still a
local colony they had attained membership
in the Interfraternity Council.
The two main philanthropies for the Sig-
ma Chi Deltas were the Cleo Wallace Center,
and the National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children. During the summer of
1990 they planned to hold a golf tournament
with their alumni to raise money for the
Cleo Wallace Center.
Other activities included a dunking fest to
raise money for the NT Police Department
and Christmas caroling at the Good Samari-
tan Village.
In the fall they held a car wash for the
San Francisco earthquake victims. The
event was co-sponsored by Colter's BBQ and
the proceeds were donated through the Red
Cross.
The Sigma Chi Deltas also had adopted ahighway. They had a 2-mile stretch outside
of Sanger, TX and cleaned it four times a
year.
One of their main goals this year was to
have the chapter eligible to be chartered by
Sigma Chi Nationals. "We hope to be char-
tered in the fall of 1990," Jim Bullock, Sigma
Chi Delta president said. Other goals includ-
ed being the number one fraternity on cam-
pus and have a chapter GPA of 3.0.
As for a successful year Bullock said, "We
look at success as the daily achievement of a
worthwhile goal. We have those three main
goals and each day we see the accomplish-
ment of our number one goal: to be in-
stalled."
Bullock also said that the Sigma Chi Del-
tas were looking forward to a long-lasting
positive relationship with the campus.
Although all of the activities that the
Greeks participated in could not be men-
tioned in these pages, there were many. Ser-
vice projects on campus and in the commu-
nity, mixers, fundraisers and philanthropies
helped to further the Greek involvement on
the NT campus that would carry them into
the next century.Zeta Phi Beta
