University buys
College Inn
Formerly owned by the Bass
Brothers Inc., College Inn mainly
housed sorority women and indepen-
dents living off campus. Upon their
return to school in January, the resi-
dents living there were surprised to
find out that the complex had been
sold to the University over the 1984-
85 Christmas Break, without their
prior knowledge.
The university purchased College
Inn for $3,000,000. The purchase
was a solution to the housing prob-
lems that the Department of Housing
faced with the fall over-flow of in-
coming students. Over-flow housing
for NT students was previously sup-
plied by Texas Women's University
but that contract was not renewed
for the Spring semester. Thus, the
purchase of College Inn became the
needed solution to the lack of hous-
ing at NT.
