How does it feel to win the scholarship?
I'm very honored and surprised. I cherish this organization and
couldn't be more thankful.
2 How did you get involved with L0SF?
I started off being involved in a fashion show. I like to model and
that brought me to meet more people in this organization, and I fell
in love with it. I've been in the Pride parade. I've gone to mixers. It's been
a lot of fun. They are very nice people, very positive people.
3 What do you want to do once you are out of school?
I want to work in a sports arena with a football or basketball team.
I've played sports since I was little, and I want to be around some-
thing I'm comfertable with.
4 What do you think it will be like to be gay and working in that field?
Now that more and more sports figures are coming out of the closet,
it won't be as big of a deal. I also handle myself in a professional
manner, and I don't throw my sexuality at everybody. So I don't think it
will be an issue.
5 What are the challenges facing black gay men today?
Wow. There are so many. Being accepted around your peers and fam-
ily, because a lot of the African-American families look down on
homosexuality. That alone is hard to deal with. But being gay is becoming
more accepted. Life in general is hard because of situations life throws at
you, not just because of your sexuality. I feel that should be the least part
of someone's life, what they do behind closed doors. Just being African-
American is harder than being gay.
