'Urinetown' gats local debut at WaterTowor
It has the unlikeliest title for a musical comedy, but "Urinetown" is just that
— and a hysterically funny one, too. Set in a future where water has become so
scarce that one large company controls all the toilets in the world (and charges
for their use), this tongue-in-cheek satire opened on Broadway just after Sept.
11, 2001, and became the surprise hit of the season, beating "Thoroughly
Modern Millie" at the Tony Awards for best score and best director. WaterTower
Theatre opens the regional premiere with a preview performance on Thursday.
Paul Taylor, Arianna Movassagh and Andy Gosnell are featured, and James
Lemons directs.
Addison Theatre Centre, 15650 Addison Road, Addison. Jan. 19-Feb. 12.
Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday
matinees at 2p.m. $20-$30. 972-450-6232.

useful ways to make the most of your living space.

'Second City' laughs it up at Majestic
The Second City comedy troupe began to develop
a national reputation after many of its alumni —
including John Belushi, Bill Murray, Martin Short,
Andrea Martin and John Candy — went on to wide-
spread acclaim on television and film. Members of
the now-legendary sketch comedy company bring
some of their most enduring bits to the Majestic
Theatre this week. "Sex and the Second City" featur-
ing songs and routines from their sizeable archives,
all dealing in one way or another with sex. The lam-
poon has been called "belly-laugh funny... with
sharp wit" by Chicago-based writer Jennifer Vanasco,
an occasional columnist for Dallas Voice.

Men of All Colors Together commemorates King
Martin Luther King Jr. is the only African-American
to have a federal holiday commemorating his contri-
butions to society. That's something that Men of All
Color Together are happy to celebrate. In honor of the
birthday of the civil rights pioneer — officially
observed on Monday — the group is holding a dinner
party on Saturday. The event, starting at 5:30 p.m.,
will feature a chili dinner with all the fixings, plus a
cash bar. Because the dinner takes place at a private
residence in East Dallas, interested persons should call
or e-mail for directions first.
Private residence. Saturday, 5:30—8:30 p.m. $5
cover. 214-521-4765 or Mact-dallas@yahoo.com for
details and directions.
