■Verve the Fifth Annual
'ay on March 31.
A special 15-minute radio pro-
gram, originating on the campus,
[was- broadcast over 30 radio sta-
tions in '■?■* citjes and "towns. Ex-
students gathered at meetings, so-
[eials, and listening parties to hear
the broadcast. , ■ ■ ■'■" '■ . -
A number of new chapters were
organized en March 31 at the
meetings; officers were elected,
and tentative programs we're out-
lined for old and new chapters.
The radio broacast featured a
•otind table discussion of the prog-
ress^ of North Texas .State with
President J. C. Matthews and
deans of the schools participating.
The''retiring ex-student president,
Warren G. Harding of Dallas, and
the executive secretary, Dr. Em-
mett Can^bron of the faculty, were
also, heardr-
On the campus, a special assem-
bly was held. Students and faculty
heard the broadq&st and Dr. Mat
thews, J. A. Anderson, Dean of
Men William" G. Woods, Athletic
Director TheroiL J. Fouts, arid
coaches Be Walker, Pete" Shands,
FTed Cobb, " and -WIntpn "Pop"
Noah were presented. They,'"in
11urn; introduced outstanding ath-
letes fromi the various athletic
organizations on the NTSC campus.
'Fessor Floyd Graham acted as
emcee for the program,, which also
| featured the Aces of Collegeland
Orchestra.

make plans for the coming year.

NORTH TEXAS DAY PROGRAM-—On-the-campus students, fac-
cutty members and guests joined with "thousands of exes through-
out Texas and the Southwest in celebrating Nortfi Texas Day on
March 31. On'stage for the-campus program were President
J. C. Matthews," members of the board of regents, new officers
/of the NTSC Ex-Student Association, other administration and fac-
ulty -personnel and outstanding athletes. Lettermen in all major
jftarts werQ. introduced on stage and in1 the audience, and the
assembly listened to the broadcast which was also heard over 30
radio stations in Texas, v - " . -. ■—----- ■
Ex-Students Form New Chapters
A number 'of new ex-studentr
chapters have been organized jlurr
ing the past few months; other
groups have elected new officers,
and still other c h a p t e r s have
planned new programs for the
coming year.
Twenty-six graduates and ex-
students formed a North Texas
club at. Mission, on March" 13 in
honor of Dr. B. fi. Harris, dean
of administration. Dr. Harris was
in the Valley representing the col-
lege at the second annual College
Day, sponsored by high schools at
Donna", Mission, and Harlingen. ■•
Exes participating in forming

Boswell, W. J. Adkins, president
of Laredo Junior College, and Mr.
and Mrs. R. E. Byrom, Max Green-
wodd, and Billie Williford Green-
wood, all of Donna.

Chapter elected on North Texas
Day were Jim Eagle, president;
Frank Gladden, vice-president;
Mrs. Letha Hearn, recording secre-
tary; Martha Jordan, correspond-
ing; secretory ^ and-Era nce^Hedg-
peth, treasurer.
Homecoming
Another Homecoming Day

November"!4 has been set
for the annual homecoming
celebrations and committee
personnel. for the event has
selected a theme, "Today's
North Texas."
' That's TNT.
The explosive theme of the home-
coming will be carried out by cam-
pus organizations for the Home-
coming Parade, at half-time 4 ac-
tivities at the footbaH game, and
in house, club, and dormitory deco-
rations
The general schedule* of events
will include, registration, beginning
at noon, Friday, Nov. 13, in the
Student Union Building. Registra-
tion will continue all day Saturday
with* members of the Green Jackets
and the hospitality committee serv-
ing at booths in the Union build-
ing, the Administration Building,
and at the Men's Building. Clubs
and -departmental units' :wiU~<alsc
have registration cardsfor return-
ing ex-students.
TNT Parade
The traditional parade of deco-
rated homecoming* floats will ,be
held at 14 a^m. Saturday, and
sororities, fraternities and clubs
will hold open houses, teas, coffees
and get-togethers during the day.
North Texas State's Eagles will
tackle West Texas State College
at 2 p.m. in the new football sta-
dium. The Eagles last played the
WTSC team in 1951 when they won
42 to 14 '
Immediately following the foot-
ball game, a barbecue will be held
at the pollege Golf Clubhouse,
nearby. Ample parking space and a
large picnic area is available.
Eagle basketball team will meet
a quintet composed of ex-students,
and two special stage shows will
be held in the mafn auditorium.
'Fessor Floyd Graham and the
Aces of Collegeland will perform
at 7 and 8:30 p.m.
Square dancing will be hfeld in
the Women's .Gymnasium at 8:30.
Social dancing will begyj at 10 p.m. •
in the Women's Gym. ' .
