This poster is an example of a government ad for defense bonds. In actual use, the name of real companies sponsoring the ad in a publication would replace the "Smith Co.," "Jones Co.," and/or "Brown Co." The Defense Savings Staff (DSS) existed from Mar. 19, 1941 to April 15, 1942 when the name changed to War Savings Staff (WSS).
