Cocktail suit of tomato red velvet with mink trimmed collar and cuffs. A) Jacket of red velvet. Elbow length sleeves trimmed with mink at cuffs. Standing collar with mink trim. Center front opening. Two large patch pockets at side seams. Lined in red silk crepe. Combined designer/retailer label at center back neckline: "Bonwit Teller New York / Traina-Norell" B) Skirt of red velvet. B) Skirt of red velvet. Street length, straight with two patch pockets at sides. 1" waistband with center back closure of four self covered buttons and bound buttonholes. Unlined.

C) Blouse of brown satin. Notched collar with exaggerated point. Center front opening with one self covered button imitating a cufflink at bust line and snap near hem. Long sleeves with French cuffs and slit. Bound buttonholes with buttons or cufflinks missing.

Notes

This object was part of the Dallas Museum of Fashion collection. Founded in 1960 by the Fashion Group, Inc. of Dallas, the collection comprised important items of historic and current fashion. It was housed in the Apparel Mart, Dallas, and operated as the Dallas Museum of Fashion from 1960 until 1971. It moved to what was then North Texas State University in 1972, and became the Texas Fashion Collection.
