Notes

Abstract: While many libraries have evaluated their collections, either as a whole or for specific subject areas, few have implemented such evaluations at regular intervals. Such regular, routine evaluations could provide the support needed not only to maintain the library, but to grow it. The Collection Development department at the University of North Texas Libraries has developed a service to evaluate our collections on a regular basis. We would like to share with other librarians our flowchart of activities, the organizational structure of managing the evaluations, and the methods used in our evaluations. We would also like to initiate a discussion on the value of such services to library administrators, collection managers, subject librarians, and the faculty and students we serve.
