fact was definitely exhibited from this survey that the affiliated skbools
had fallen far short on this phase in their programs. Likewise, the non-
affiliated schools, with only a slightly higher ratio than that of the
affiliated group, had offered inadequate fulfillment in this phase of
health education. This realization presented one of the greatest chal-
lenges revealed in the enrvey. Table I disclosed that in moet instances
the programs of each group scheduled ample time for health instruction,
but it was evident that sufficient use of examinations in follow-up soi
was not an intricate part of health teaching.
Although the survey shows in Figure 6 that the affiliated schools had
6% more student participation in the physical education progrLa than those
of the non-affiliated group, both groups presented a serious problems
Sinee physical education is required for each student and the survey shown
ed an adequate program in osat instances for full participation, then the
leniency at be within the enforcement of the state requirement. The en-
emption of the physically defective or unfit when an adequate corrective
program is impossible is the one exception to the requirement. On this
point, as with the radical requiremnt, the affiliated schools were not
upholding the standards for affiliation.

Fran Figure 6 it is readily oBoserved that far more stress was placed upon
sports in the non-affiliated grou of schools. Figure 7 shows that tbhe
affiliated group spent less time upon gymnastics than the affiliated group.
