SAMPLING STATIONS AND SCHEDULE
Stations sampled at Indian Point were the same as those
previously reported (Ref. 1) and indicated in Fig. 1. The
three channel stations were along an approximate East-West
transect from the Consolidated Edison Reactor at mile 43.
The East channel station is about 50 yards from the station
site, and has a depth of about 50 feet. The mid-channel
station is approximately mid-river with a depth of 60-70 feet.
,The West-channel station is well over on the west side of the
river (beyond the site of the former "mothballed" fleet) with
a depth of about 30 feet. Two shore stations on either bank
were chosen to represent shore conditions relevant to the
channel transect, but could not be coincident with it, due
to physical difficulties. On the east bank the shore station
is a few hundred yards south of the station, while on the west,
the shore station is almost directly opposite the station.
Collections were made at all of these sites onsa once-
monthly basis, except during winter months when the river was
frozen. During the winter, some samples were obtained close
to the power station. Some additional collections at other
sites were made on a non-repetitive basis. In addition, a
summer program of fish sampling by shore-seining at eight
selected sites along the west bank of the river was completed
during June, July and August.
Samples collected at monthly intervals unless otherwise
noted were as follows:
1) Grab surface samples of water for trace elements (1/2 gal.).
