MINI BITS
MINIATURE BOOK SOCIETY
flEWSLETTERVOLUME II DECEMBER. 1984 NUMBER I
Accompanying this issue of MiniBitS are two separate items. They are:
1. A paper that I was asked to present in October at a meeting of the
International Miniature Book Society in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. A full report
of the meeting and the International Miniature Book Society is included in
the body of this MiniBitS.
2. A list of Corrections and Additions to the Revised Directory. It is
almost a Directory all by itself. Please note that in a little over one year
we now number more than 300 members and are still growing.
Let me start with with my trip to Yugoslavia. Dr. Martin Znidersic invited
me as Chairman of the Miniature Book Society to present a paper at the
International Miniature Book Society meeting. It was to be held on Friday.
October 26th in conjunction with an International Book Fair that ran from
24-31 October at the Fairgrounds where the Book Fair was being held. Dr.
Znidersic met me when I arrived on the 24th and we went directly to the
Fair Grounds. They were still setting up the exhibits of books, including the
exhibit of miniature books. Apparently, this exhibit was sponsored by
Cankarjeva Zalozba, a publishing house in Ljubljana, of which Dr. Znidersic
is the Director. I gathered that the miniature books on display were mostly
from his own personal collection. A catalogue of the books on exhibit was
published for the Fair and listed the almost 2,000 miniatures on display,
among which were some 400 American minatures The exhibit itself was
well received and was visited by many people during the week of the Fair.Page 1.
