A GENERAL MEETING of the Miniature Book Society was held on Saturday
morning, June 30th. Following are some of the matters discussed and the
action taken on them:
I. The membership ratified the actions taken by the Board of
Governors and voted to approve their recommendations.
2. A vote was taken recognizing Norman W. Forgue and Ruth E. Adomeit
for their outstanding contributions over more than 50 years to the field of
Miniature Books. The members present joined in signing a card to Norman as
an expression of their sympathy at the recent loss of his wife.
3. The financial status of the Society was reviewed. Enclosed in this
mailing you will find a REVISED FINANCIAL SUMMARY. It is "revised" from
the one distributed at the meeting in Boston because at that time we did not
know how much the Auction would realize or how much the Conclave, Book
Fair and Auction expenses would be. From the summary you can see that our
annual budget amounts to approximately $4,000.00 a year and that we met
our operating and administrative expenses with enough left over to start the
second year's operations. This success is due in very large measure to the
generosity of many of our members who have donated time, money and
services over the year. We are deeply indebted to them and thank them one
and all.
The membership approved the annual membership fee of $10.00. This,
plus other contributions and support should see us through the coming year.
To this end, a MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL ENVELOPE is enclosed for your
convenience. Please note that this is for a "minimum" renewal. The Board
established no maximum!
4. The membership approved holding meetings annually and in a
different part of the country each year. This will enable all members to be
physically close to where meetings are held at least one time or another.
The membership then considered and accepted an invitation from a California
delegation to hold the 1985 CONCLAVE in the Los Angeles area. A Committee
headed by Glen and Mary Helen Dawson will Chair the Local Arrangements
