MINIATURE BOOK SOCIETY
lnEWSLETTER
VOL I July 1984 NUMBER 3
The BOSTON CONCLAVE is now history. From every point of view it was
a huge success. We had 44 registered attendees. There were 20 exhibitors at
the Book Fair plus 3 tables for "Swapping" by M.B.S. members. The facilities
at the Newton Marriott were all one could ask for, and we even made out well
financially. The Auction brought in enough money so that after one year, we
have wound up starting our second year in the black. Considering that we
have only been organized for ten months, I think we have accomplished a
great deal. We started with nothing more than a great deal of enthusiasm
and a $500.00 interest-free loan. To-day we have over $500.00 in the bank,
no debts and 266 members.
Enclosed is the Ist REVISED EDITION OF THE DIRECTORY. It has a total
of 544 entries. Pages are numbered and more space has been left on each
page for notes, changes, additions or cross-references. In almost every case,
each letter of the alphabet starts on a new page. These changes were made
as a result of your requests and suggestions. I recently bought a Macintosh
Apple computer and we now have our membership list computerized.
Incidentally, the Logos on both the front and back covers were done on the
computer. Having the information on discs was a tremendous help in
preparing the revised edition. It will now be much easier to keep changes,
corrections and additions current Those of you who were at the Conclave
should have already received your Directories. If there has been a slip-up
somewhere, please let me know.
Following is a brief description of some of the week-end events. I am
sorry that each of you could not have been there in person and hope this
digested report will give you some idea of what took place.Page 1.
