a $120,000 grant from the Robert A.
Welch Foundation.
Dr. Cecil Jones received a $1400
award from the Pittsburgh Conference.
An analytical chemist, Dr. Jones arrived
from the U. of Alabama (B.S. and
Ph.D.) in the fall of 1996. The grant
will enhance the teaching of electronic
and computer-instrumentation inter-
facing. Dr. Robert G. Landolt re-
ceived a $26,000 grant from the Dreyfus
Foundation to support Project UCAIR
2000. A $1,000 award was granted to
Dr. Ricardo E. Rodriguez from Chan-
nel 5 (KXAS) to conduct the 1999
"Chemistry Camp for Kids." In con-
junction with the Fort Worth Inde-
pendent School District, the Camp willhost 35 4th-5th grade ESL students
from T. A. Sims Elementary for a three
week hands-on chemistry camp.

gave invited lectures at the University
of South Carolina and the University of
South Florida, and was awarded a PRF
grant to study zeolite thin films.

in Anaheim in March. David Son pre-
