The principal strength of the School of Music consists of the faculty.
Approximately forty per cent hold the earned doctorate. Many have had
practical experience as concert performers or as professional conductors.
Faculty for academic year 1972-73: 68 members and 105 graduate assistants;
faculty 1973-74: 69 members and 106 teaching fellows and assistants.
Music Service A wards. Music majors of conspicuous ability who have
financial need may apply for Music Service Awards. These awards
are granted only through competitive auditions.
Part-time Teaching Positions. Students and teachers who wish to pur-
sue graduate study may apply for part-time positions which pay from $2400
to $4000 for the academic year.
