The Special Collections Department collects and preserves rare and unique materials including rare books, oral histories, university archives, historical manuscripts, maps, microfilm, photographs, art and artifacts. The department is located in UNT's Willis Library in the fourth floor Reading Room.

Example of a Sunday school "prize." The simple 4-page booklet with woodcut illustration would be awarded as a prize for attendence or a correct answer or winning a contest. As stories are collected, they could be bound into a book. Bound compilations were also available. Presented to the Weaver Collection of Juvenile Materials in honor of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Rare Book & Texana Collections, October 2006.

This collection contains the materials of Gustine Courson Weaver (1873-1942) and was originally part of the Historical Collection, and was given to UNT in the 1930s.
