Notes

As part of fund-raising campaigns, these miniature volumes, called "button books" were produced. Contributors to the funds were given copies of these books, which had a string threaded through a hole in the back cover, by which the books could be hung from coat buttons. The various types of volumes produced included information on the campaigns of the war, activities of Hitler, etc. This particular copy was formerly in the collection of Robert E. Massmann, noted publisher and collector of miniature books. His miniature bookplate is inside the front cover.
