This cost is reflected in the original or first copy of any translation
ordered. Additional copies are supplied to the purchaser and other interested
parties at fractional cost. "Private, confidential or in any way restricted
technical material is translated for the client's exclusive use at rates some-
what higher than the basic ones." Otherwise, "ATS retains the right to sell
translations of publicly available documents." Additional copies of any ATS
custom translation are sold to interested individuals or organizations. As was
mentioned previously, completed translations are indexed in Technical Transla-
tions of OTS and in the List of Translations issued at frequent intervals by
ATS.

Henry Brutcher translates "all languages, except Asiatic and African, at
rates ranging from $10 to $20, depending on language and difficulty. Order
work is not solicited. Subject area is strictly limited to metallurgy,

and catalog of translations issued by the organization and in Technical Trans-
lations of OTS.

Consultants Custom Translations, Inc., is a department of Consultants
Bureau which, as indicated in table 2, translates a number of Soviet scientific
journals from cover to cover on a regular basis.
For a period of almost 15 years, CCT originally processed custom trans-
lations from "all languages, in chemistry, engineering, physics, patents,"
and other subjects at rates ranging from $20 to $30 per 1,000 words on an
individual order basis. However, in May 1959, CCT announced that it was sus-
pending its custom translation activities and would, henceforth, devote "full
attention to the dissemination of extant translations," and recommended that
all future orders be directed to TRANSLATIONS.
Rates per 1,000 words of English for technical translations made by
TRANSLATIONS are as follows:
Russian, German, French, and Spanish........$25
