MASSIVE MAGNETITE-ILMENITE netite deposits of the

resources of 178 million

geologists of Union
Pacific Railroad Co. The resources are composed of two general types or classes
of ore: massive magnetite-ilmenite and disseminated magnetite-ilmenite with
iron-bearing olivine and other silicate minerals.
The massive magnetite-ilmenite assays not less than 40 percent iron and
15 percent TiO2. Resources of this type consist of 30 million tons with an
average grade of 45.0 percent iron, 20.0 percent TiO2, 0.64 percent V205,
10 percent Si02, and little or no phosphorus or sulfur. The disseminated mag-
netite-ilmenite resources assaw from 5 to 40 percent iron and not less than
2 percent TiO2. Resources of this classification are estimated at 148 million
tons averaging 20.2 percent iron, 9.7 percent TiO2, 0.17 percent V205, and
35.6 percent SiO2.
