Notes

Abstract: On May 22, 2012 at the University of North Texas, a group of technologists and librarians, scholars and researchers, university administrators, and other stakeholders gathered to discuss and articulate best practices and emerging trends in research data management. The resulting document, The Denton Declaration, bridges the converging interests of these interest groups and promotes collaboration, transparency, and accountability across organizational and disciplinary boundaries. This poster presentation will describe the process of developing the Declaration, crediting collaborators and participating institutions; will discuss why we chose the genre of the Manifesto (rather than a more traditional report), reproduce key principles of open data from the Declaration, illustrate the international network of cosigners that have championed the Declaration, and invite the TCDL community to join us in advocating these principles throughout the academy.
