CHAPTER 3
RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODLOGY
Introduction
A research design should verify that there is a link between the presented model
and the research questions. Research can be defined as a process including all of the
efforts such as the explaining, describing, and exploring to understand the complexities
of the chosen phenomenon (Marshall and Rossman, 1989). Researchers in social
sciences have gradually applied to certain qualitative research methods that can help to
genuinely understand complicated social contexts (Marshall & Rossman, 1989). The
present study aimed to uncover TNP officers' current knowledge-sharing practices and
solicit the officers' recommendations for an effective knowledge-sharing system, as well
as to the applicability of the knowledge management models to the TNP context. This
chapter discusses the role of the researcher, research design, data collection, data
analysis, instrumentation, population and sample, validity and reliability, and ethical
issues.
