Mr. au.d Mrs. Isaac Crouch of McKinney have announced the engagement of their
daughter, Betty Lou, to William Robert Hall of Bogota, Colombia, South America.
The wedding will take place this fall. Betty was librarian of Kilgore High
School last year.
Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Oldham of Hearne have announced the engagement of their
daughter, Louvenia, to William Lynn Heard of Dallas. The wedding will take
place October 28. Louvenia and Bill are students on the NT Lampus, and they
will reside in Denton at 101 Egan Street until January.
Mr. and .rs. Jo2I Duncan arc living in El Paso where Mr. Duncan is teaching.
Mrs. Dncan is the former Mary TimmoDs. Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Gentle are living
in Dallas. Mrs. Gentle i.Ls Maxine Phenix before her marriage.
Ned Morris, librarian at Texas College of Arts and Industries, has been
granted a leave of absence since his recall into military service. He is
stationed in Alabama at the present tie. Ned was married last June 17 to Betty
Jean Spiller.
Charles Baldry, who came from Kansas this fall to take his library work,
was called back into military service last week. He sent us his greetings on
a card mailed en route to Washington.
Doyle Chrisman, assistant coach at Denton High School, has been called into
active service. Mrs. Chrisman is the former Margret Massie, a 1941 graduate of
Library Service. The Chrismans have one son.
Bill Gunstead recently came by for a visit. He resigned his Job on the
Alpine AVALANCHE because he was called to service.
OTHER RECENT VISITORSt Eugenia Thomas, elementary librarian at Wichita
Falls; Barbara Brooke, librarian at the Nueces County Library in Corpus Christi;
Hasel Self, supervisor c2 libraries in Johnson County.
Mr. and Mrs. illiam B. Stephens (Opal Jean), Denton, are the parents of a
baby girl named Pamela Jean who was born on October 1.
Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Doheny (Charlotte Bohlin) of Honolulu, Hawaii, are the
parents of a baby boy born last summer.
Mrs. William J. Chandler (Mary Katherine Brothers) works at the Oklahoma
City Public Library. She and Bill make their home at 442 Park Drive, Norman,
Oklahoma.
Mrs. Louis De Vito (Billey Bushey) is a medical librarian in Galveston and
her husband is in the medical school there. Their address is 1119 Avenue E.
E"isabeth DeFord was married on July 22 to Kenneth Johnson. Both the
Johnsons are here in school this semester.
Mr. and Mrs. Finis Cathey attended the T.U.-Arkansas football game in
Austin on Saturday, October 21.
Miss Virginia Clarke, librarian of the North Texas Laboratory School, was
in Austin October 7-8 attending a two-day conference of the State Policy
Committee of the College Classroom Teachers Association. She was a represent-
ative of the North Texas unit of Q.C.T.A.
New assistants in the Library Service office are Kathryn Weeks, Bienville,
La. and Ilse Skipsna, Riga, Latvia.
Mrs. Haggard Shepard (Sybil Chambers) writes from Coluabus, Ohio, that she
is enjoying that part of the country. The Shepards were married on September 3in Childress, Texas.
We wish to offer our sympathy to Marcia Holcomb upon the death of her
mother on Sunday, October 22.
