tained in courses in education and psychology; from the

of Medicine* Galveston, ferns; and in conference *ith welfare
workers and doctors who were interested in child development.
Information on home environment was obtained "by personal
interviews with the parents, relatives and friend®*
Data were secured from results on standardised tests
and teachers* observation in the classroom* auditorium*
cafeteria, on the playground* at church, on field trips, at
iihe circus, in the home® of classmates, in the clinic at
school, in the wed leal offices, and in the hooie*
Method of Procedure
fhe stucy was initiated by extensive reading concerning
the nature, causes, prevention, detection, and treatment of
maladjusted children and their relation to the wholesome
development of the child*
fhe increasing percentage of elementary school children
who possess abnormal behavior is a sufficient stimulus to
those interested in child development to do research in that
field*
