Nonfatal injuries underground were due mainly to falls of rock or
ore from roof or wall, timber or hand tools, rock or ore while loading
at working face, haulage, and drilling. Similar accidents in open-pit
workings were due largely to falls of persons, falls or slides of rock
or ore, hand tools, and haulage.
